Entrepreneurs or traders alike, often dream of doing international business at a large scale. However, as we have all been told, business involves taking risks and bearing risks for profit. This is the purpose of our write-up as we have faced some problems, both present and past, with resellers (some prominent ones) who are less than aware of the obligations of both parties.

While we want to talk about some fundamentals of trading, we are not going to delve into the details and terminologies that will bore the toots out of you. Suffice to know that most of what you will encounter as a budding entrepreneur will most likely fit the following scenario:

You have some spare cash that is lying around waiting to multiply and have been looking for something unique that will create some profits for you. There are plenty of business propositions waiting to be explored but you happen to chance upon a product that you think has potential. The search begins for a suitable manufacturer of that product as you want to cut through the thick levels of middlemen to get to the source at the lowest cost.

Once you have that piece of information, you decided to see how much to stock up, the product range you need and perhaps set up a website to sell your wares. Now it is time to contact the manufacturers. This is where the fun begins.

Some questions that you have to ask yourself before you start :
a. What are the terms of shipping? FOB (Origin) or FOB (destination) ?
b. What is the agreed price? Does the price include/exclude shipping?
c. What is the Return Policy for damaged goods?

To make this example realistic, we would like to quote Xtreme Enterprise's terms of trade so that potential resellers are able to get an idea of how to go about this trading business.

Shipping Terms

Xtreme Enterprise practices FOB (Origin). What this means, is that we are responsible for preparing all goods to specifications and then package them ready to be shipped to the port. Once the goods arrive at our designated shipping port and is loaded into either air/sea freight, our responsibility ends there.

FOB (port of origin) means the buyer is responsible for the freight and other costs and risks, which may include the import customs clearance and payment of import customs duties and taxes at the buyer's country. This also means that the buyer is clearly aware of the product features enough before deciding that he wants to take an sample/test order. However, for whatever reason that the shipment does not clear import customs, the buyer bears the full risk of having the shipment impounded at customs.

Unless the buyer is able to prove that the manufacturing company has not fulfilled their side of the bargain by not sending them the goods, the buyer has no case against the manufacturer as the latter has already fulfilled his end of the bargain.

Actual Install Process

Like we mentioned earlier, some cutting skills using the dremel is required for this casemod project to shave off some of the edges of the newly installed fans in case it does not fit properly. Also, some wire-cutting skills will be needed. Fortunately, there is no need to utilise any soldering skills for this project so it should give alot of us some relief and confidence for this simple but effective mod. Preparing Yourself For A Casemod Project

Do prepare yourself adequately with the skills and tools necessary for the case replacement exercise. You will also find that replacing the case alone may not be the only thing you want to do. The possibilities are endless and is limited to your own imagination. This is all too possible with lots of practice and knowledge associated with casemodding (simply google it with keywords like "xbox casemod"). But remember, the best mods emerge with a few things in mind :

Step One. You require a design concept that is workable
Step Two. You need to acquire the right tools to work with
Step Three. You need to get all measurements right and then practice it on materials similar to the original Xbox360

Casemodding Skills & Knowledge Required

Before you start the actual casemodding work on your Xbox360, you must preferably be rather competent in the following skills :

a. Drawing lines on the case (the easiest part)
b. Making clean cuts through plastic (not so easy) and surface/edge sanding
c. Installation of plexi-glass / acrylic plates (for see-through effects)
d. Installation of neon-lights / internal lighting for special effects
e. Soldering / Wiring / Disassembling of electronics (if required)
f. Others (water-cooling projects, additional fan installation etc)

Practice! Practice! Practice!
